Brodie Merrill became the first player to have his number retired by the Seals in the team’s first home game without him.
Now he’s coming out of retirement and he was added to the team’s active roster before their Friday night matchup with the Calgary Roughnecks.
It’s not yet known whether he’ll play in Friday’s road game but he made the trip and participated in team practices on Thursday, per a team source.
A helmet with the No. 17 appeared in an Instagram post posted by the Seals on Thursday.
