The Seals defeated No. 7 Panther City Lacrosse Club in an instant classic on Saturday for the third playoff win in franchise history.
They’re in the semifinal for the second time in franchise history. They lost to the Colorado Mammoth in three games in the 2021-22 season. They’ve never been to the Finals.
The FireWolves were the final team to clinch their spot in the semifinals as they defeated the No. 6 Halifax Thunderbirds, 9-3, on Sunday afternoon.
The Firewolves finished the season with a 11-7 record and in a tie with the Buffalo Bandits for third place. (By the head-to-head tiebreaker, the FireWolves were awarded the three seed and the Bandits fourth.)
The FireWolves’ win was their second-ever playoff game and their first since 2016. They’ve never won a game beyond the first round. They’re 0-2 in the semifinals round.
The Seals were the first team to beat the FireWolves on January 20 when they met during the regular season. San Diego used a five-goal second quarter and six-goal fourth quarter to take down Albany, 14-7, on the road. The FireWolves were 6-0 and the last undefeated team in the NLL.
In the other semifinal series, the No. 1 Toronto Rock will host the No. 4 Bandits.
