–Jan. 25: Duran Ferree loaned to Orange County SC for 2024
17-year-old goalkeeper Duran Ferree, San Diego FC’s first-ever signing, has been loaned to Orange County SC for the 2024 USL Championship season, per the club. Orange County is notably the closest team to San Diego in the USL Championship.
It’s not known immediately how much playing time Ferree will see with the team already having two goalkeepers on their roster, but in looking for the best fit for Ferree and his development, San Diego FC took into account where Ferree would see playing time. Eric Lopez just signed with Orange County this past September and Colin Shutler made seven starts for the SoCal club last season.
“We are excited for the opportunity for Duran to continue his professional development just up the road this year,” SDFC CEO Tom Penn said. "We will work closely with OCSC and monitor his development as we prepare for the 2025 season.”
