Aztecs look for improvement in Paycom Wooden Legacy

Since San Diego State’s loss to BYU in the second game of the season, they have won two games, but they have not looked pretty. They beat, by two points, an Arizona State team who lost to UC Riverside the week before. And their most recent poor performance came in a six-point victory to UT Arlington, one of the worst teams in one of the worst conferences in D-1 college basketball.

Much of this poor performance is due to shooting problems and unnecessary turnovers. They will need to figure these issues out before their Dec. 4 road game if they want a chance against a struggling Michigan team.

The Aztecs (3-1) will begin the Paycom Wooden Legacy against the Georgetown Hoyas (2-1) in Anaheim, Calif. at the Anaheim Convention Center. Tip-off will be at 8:59 p.m. and can be watched on ESPN2.

Georgetown lost their first game of the season in a 69-60 loss versus Dartmouth, but won their most recent two against American (79-57) and Siena (83-65). Their top scorer, senior guard Donald Carey, averaged 15.3 points per game and five rebounds per game in the team’s first three games.

No. 24 USC and Saint Joseph’s will compete in the other semifinal game, with the Aztecs playing the second game of the tournament Friday, Nov. 26. The championship game will be played at 8:30 p.m. PT, or the third place game at 6 p.m. PT at the Anaheim Convention Center.
