Tuesday night, the San Diego State Aztecs fended off an upset bid by the Colorado State Rams by coming back from down seven multiple times to a 66-60 home win over the Rams.

This game was especially tough for the Aztecs, coming off their first loss of the season Saturday against the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels. With this comeback win on Senior Night, the Aztecs improved to 27-1 while the Rams fell to 19-11.

It was Senior Night at Viejas Arena and the last home game in the careers of three Aztecs seniors; Yanni Wetzell, KJ Feagin and Nolan Narain.

Schakel was not in the starting lineup for the first time this season, allowing Nolan Narain to start in his final home game. Just seconds into the game, Narain got the ball and drilled a three as the home crowd erupted.

The Rams led for more than half the game, leading by seven points at multiple stages in the game. Malachi Flynn had a dismal first half, scoring only 2 points while the Aztecs scored 34 points in the half.

They were earned mainly by Matt Mitchell, who finished with 15 points and five rebounds.

However, the Aztecs got clutch buckets from Malachi Flynn and Jordan Schakel late and finished the game on a 17-4 run to get the six-point win.

The Aztecs have a very tough challenge in their season finale on Feb. 29 against the Nevada Wolfpack in Reno, Nevada.

Nevada is currently tied for second in the division and can clinch the two seed in the Mountain West Tournament with a win and a Utah State loss. The game will tip-off at 5 p.m. PT on ESPN2.
