The San Diego State Aztecs have now officially tied the all-time school record for longest win streak at 20-0.

The Aztecs dominated the Wyoming Cowboys in their Tuesday night matchup improving to 20-0 while the Wyoming struggles continued. The Cowboys certainly gave it their best in the 72-55 road loss, but they couldn’t handle the all around talent of the fourth best team in the nation.

The Aztecs were hot out of the gate causing 16 turnovers and holding the Cowboys to just 18 made field goals. The win was earned by Aztecs starters Malachi Flynn, Matt Mitchell, Yanni Wetzell and Jordan Schakel who all reached double-digits in points.

As for the Cowboys, their leading scorer, and quite frankly only reliable scorer was veteran guard Jake Hendricks who put up 20 points on a stellar Aztecs defense.

By extending their win streak to 20 games, the Aztecs tied their 2010-11 and 2013-14 teams with the program’s best win streak. In both those seasons, they reached the Sweet 16.

Flynn was questionable entering the game with food poisoning but delivered 18 points, five assists and five rebounds.

With forward Nathan Mensah being out for an extended period of time, Wetzell and Mitchell continue to shine brighter with more opportunities. Wetzell scored 14 and Mitchell scored 15 points in the 72-55 win.

San Diego State continues to get national attention, staying the only unbeaten team left and sneaking into the top five in the AP and Coaches Polls.

However, it does not seem to distract the Aztecs’ stars much, showing that they still share the ball more frequently than most teams and put up an entire team’s effort each and every time they step onto the court. Regardless, the team continues to prove they are one of, if not the best team in San Diego State history.

The Aztecs will travel to Las Vegas this Sunday to face the next best team in the Mountain West currently, UNLV Runnin’ Rebels. The game will likely be more energetic and exciting, with the Aztecs heading into the game as only 78% favorites. The game will tip-off at 1 p.m. PT from the famous Thomas and Mack Center, and will be broadcasted on CBSSN.
