For the undefeated, San Diego State Aztecs (22-0, 11-0 MWC), the Saturday night showdown with the Utah State Aggies (17-6, 6-4 MWC) is much more than just a good Mountain West basketball game.

The Aztecs have already beat the Aggies this year and look to sweep the season series once again.

Not only do the Aztecs have more to prove against the preseason favorites (who also just so happen to be the team that eliminated them from tournament contention last year), but the school will also be retiring NBA superstar Kawhi Leonard’s jersey at halftime.

Leonard spent two seasons with the Aztecs from 2009-2011 and was a part of the first Aztec team to ever make it to the Sweet Sixteen in the 2010-11 season.

The two teams have met 17 times in their short history with the Aztecs leading the series 12-5 and 6-1 in San Diego.

The Aztecs have won 12 of the last 14 games between the two teams and are 83% favorites according to ESPN. The game is a sellout as usual for the No. 1 ranked team in the NET rankings and No. 4 in both the Coaches Poll and AP Poll.

The first time these two teams met this season, the Aztecs were led by Malachi Flynn with 22 points, five rebounds and four assists. Matt Mitchell had 19 points and seven rebounds.

The Aggies were led by Sam Merril with 26 points, and Neemias Queta with 15 points and 14 rebounds.

The matchups to watch in this one will be Malachi Flynn vs. Sam Merril and Neemias Queta vs. Yanni Wetzell.

The game starts at 7 p.m. PT at Viejas Arena. The game will be broadcasted on CBS Sports Network.
