The only unbeaten team in college basketball and fourth nationally-ranked San Diego State Aztecs (20-0, 9-0 MWC) head to Las Vegas, Nevada, to take on the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels (11-10, 6-2 MWC).

Last week, the Aztecs tied their longest win streak in program history and will take a shot at beating the record in their showdown with the Runnin’ Rebels on Sunday.

The two teams have met a total of 72 times with the series split at 36 apiece. However, the Aztecs have won 30 of the last 40 and are 15-1 in the past 16 meetings.

San Diego State tied three program records this week including best start to a season, longest win streak, and highest rank in the AP Poll. Besides the fact that the Aztecs and Runnin’ Rebels are the top two teams in the Mountain West Conference and is anticipated to be a great game, it will be an absolutely huge game for the Aztecs to try to break their program records.

Since the start of the 2008-09 season, no team has earned more road wins against a single opponent than San Diego State’s 14 victories over UNLV. Their 24 total victories over the Rebels during that time period is one short of the national lead for victories over a single opponent.

This highly anticipated game is almost guaranteed to be closer than it is deemed to be by ESPN and other betting spreads. The Aztecs are favored to win each of their remaining games by quite a bit and are 80% favorites in this game despite the fact that road teams are just 13-33 so far in Mountain West play.

The UNLV Runnin’ Rebels are led by junior guard Amauri Hardy, who averages 15 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game. Forward Cheikh Mbacke Diong also averages nine points and nine rebounds per game.

Meanwhile, the Aztecs are led by forward Yanni Wetzell who averages 12.3 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Malachi Flynn has 16.6 points and 5.1 assists per game this season.

The game begins at 1 p.m. PT and will be broadcasted on CBS Sports Network from the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.
