No. 7 Aztecs vs. Nevada: Game Preview

The San Diego State Aztecs 18-0 (7-0 MWC) are the only remaining unbeaten team in all of Division 1 college basketball. The Aztecs head back home Jan. 18 to face the Nevada Wolfpack, 11-7 (4-2 MWC) in a conference showdown.

San Diego State leads the all-time series 17-6 and has won eight of the last nine games played in San Diego. The Aztecs remain in the top three in the NET and will move into the top five with a win on Saturday.

It will be a very important game for the Aztecs. If they win, they will most likely move into the top five in the AP poll next week. San Diego State is just three wins away from breaking the school record for their best start to a season and their longest win streak. The 18-0 Aztecs team is off to the second-best start in program history, second to only their 2010-11 team that started 20-0.

Speaking of the legendary 2010-11 run that the current San Diego State team is chasing, Aztec legend and NBA Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard will have his jersey retired during the Feb 1 game against Utah State.

In regards to the game, the Wolfpack are led by guard Jalen Harris who scores a team-leading 18.4 points and six rebounds per game. Jazz Johnson has also recorded 17 points and three rebounds per game.

As for the Aztecs, they are led by junior guard and midseason All-American Malachi Flynn, who has 16.5 points and five assists per game.

The Aztecs-Wolfpack showdown will tip-off at 5 p.m. PT Saturday from Viejas Arena with the broadcast on CBS Sports Network.
