San Diego State’s basketball squad will get ready for the second game of the season against Brigham Young (BYU) as Coach Dutcher looks for his second career win against the Cougars.

The Cougars hold the series record by a large margin (48-24), but have lost the last three meetings to the Aztecs. The Cougars will still carry the advantage with a 29-3 record at Provo, Utah.

Both teams place seventh with 14 consecutive 19-win seasons, but the Aztecs pull ahead of the Cougars with a .733 win percentage since the start of the decade, which ranks 14th in Division I basketball.

The Aztecs opened the season 1-0 with a 77-42 win over Texas Southern at home. Guards Jordan Schakel (15 PTS) and Malachi Flynn (15 PTS) led the scoring for San Diego State Tuesday night with forwards Matt Mitchell (9), Keshad Johnson (7) and Aguek Arop (5) getting work done off the bench. The Aztecs threw 38.9 from the field and 37.3 from the three in the home opener.

The Cougars faced CSU Fullerton in their season opener and took the victory 76-58. The Cougars shot 36.8% from the field while making 35.7% from the three.

The game will be live on the Aztecs Radio Network at XTRA 1360 with the pregame show beginning at 12:30 p.m. and tip-off at 1 p.m. PT from The Marriott Center in Utah.
