Snapdragon Stadium to host 2024 MLR Final - Everything San Diego

The Major League Rugby Final is making its long awaited return to San Diego for the first time in five years.

Snapdragon Stadium will host the 2024 MLR Final on Sunday, Aug. 4 at 1 p.m. PT, owner Ryan Patterson announced Tuesday night at the Legion Media Night.

“It comes with added pressure, I suppose, but I know for us, we want to do everything we can each and every week to take that step, to put ourselves in that position around playoffs, home playoffs, and then the Final,” head coach Danny Lee said.

San Diego previously hosted two MLR Final matches at Torero Stadium in 2018 and 2019. This will be the first one hosted at Snapdragon Stadium, which opened in August 2022.

The match will be played two weeks after the New Zealand All Blacks and Fiji Rugby play at Snapdragon Stadium on Friday, July 19.

Last year’s MLR Final at Seatgeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Ill. featured a pregame concert with DJ Diesel (Shaquille O’Neal) and a postgame concert by Dropkick Murphys on the field. There will be live music again this year, Patterson confirmed.

More details to come later.
