Dinelson Lamet made his 14th start since returning from Tommy John surgery Wednesday against the rival up north. In the first, Lamet gave up a pair of runs on a longball and an extra-base hit from Dodgers’ Pederson and Seager.

The offense took their turn, rallying with two outs to score three runs and take the lead. A lead-off walk and three consecutive hits off the bats of Myers, Mejia and Naylor put the Padres on top of Los Angeles.

The Dodgers quickly came back in the second with their second lead-off roundtripper in as many innings. That was all they were able to get off Lamet in the second frame of the game.

It took four innings, but the Dodgers re-took the lead in the fifth with another lead-off jack, Joc Pederson’s second on the night. Padres’ starter Dinelson Lamet lasted five innings, giving up four runs (earned), six hits and three homers. Nonetheless, Lamet still flashed swing-and-miss stuff, striking out 10 or more hitters in back-to-back games for the first time in his 35-game career.

The Padres managed to score again and tie up the game an inning later, which consisted of a Luis Urias hit by pitch and back-to-back Seth Mejias-Brean and Greg Garcia singles, each with a pair of outs.

Interim manager Rod Barajas went with four relievers out of the bullpen over the night. Right-handers Luis Perdomo, David Bednar, Craig Stammen and Javier Guerra combined for the final four frames, giving up two runs, four hits and just three strikeouts.

The Dodgers sent closer Kenley Jansen to close out the game at Petco Park as the Dodgers came out on top in back-to-back games. The Padres and Dodgers will go at it Thursday afternoon with a 12:40 p.m. first pitch for the final time in 2019. Clayton Kershaw (15-5, 3.15) will start for Los Angeles against San Diego’s Joey Lucchesi (10-9, 4.28).
