Bottom of the 10th, one out and two runners on, who else would you want at the plate? The hot-hitting Wil Myers delivers for the third walk-off win in San Diego in 2019.

Eric Lauer was very efficient against the Rockies, going 6 innings and threw just 83 pitches after going 100+ in his past two starts. The young left-handed starter made his best start against Colorado to date and continued a hot streak. Going into the day, Lauer was 0-3 with a 11.21 ERA in 5 starts against the Rockies. In one start, the 24-year-old lowered his ERA against Colorado to 8.75.

Lauer’s one run given up was the least given up by the southpaw since his August 19 start in Cincinnati. However, it ended the San Diego pitching staff’s shutout streak at 18 scoreless innings.

David Bednar, Matt Strahm, and Kirby Yates each pitched a perfect inning to keep the ballgame tied. Bednar made his third career appearance and struck out a pair of hitters. Matt Strahm struck out one and Yates struck out two, for a combined 5 strikeouts from the trio. They also added onto the bullpen’s scoreless streak to 9⅔ innings.

The Rockies struck first in the third inning, but, an inning later, Luis Urias hit a run-scoring single to tie it up. Through 9 innings, the two teams combined for 10 hits (Padres 6, Rockies 4).

Wil Myers kept a hot bat, going 3-for-5, and hitting his first walk-off of the year. Myers not only hit well again, but made many defensive plays as well, highlighted by a over-the-shoulder catch in center field.

The Padres will go into the Cubs series winning their last two and the last off a game-winner in the 10th. Cal Quantrill (6-6, 4.57) will get the start against Chicago’s Kyle Hendricks (9-9, 3.39).
