Growlers score season-best 32 goals in blowout win!

Jonny Richardson - May 18, 2019

The San Diego Growlers scored a season-high 32 goals Friday night at Mission Bay High School. It was the Growlers’ sixth win of the year, which leads the entire league.

“Probably our most complete game,” said head coach Kevin. “Our offense we’ve been talking about a couple adjustments and some terms of our mentality and we started executing that.”

The 32 goals was not only the most for San Diego this season, but the most in entire league, as well. The previous record in 2019 for the AUDL was 31 by Minnesota in week 5.

There was a bit of a scare in the fourth quarter when San Diego’s Will Turner came out of the game after making a block.

“He just has a hamstring contusion. So he should be fine.” said Kevin after the game.

Nate Bridges also suffered a contusion in his back. Both are expected to play in two weeks after their bye.

Defensively, the Growlers didn’t play their best, giving up 20 goals to the 2-5 San Jose Spiders. But the offense helped them out and San Diego still won by a team-best 12 goals.

The Growlers will get a bye next week, giving time for injured players to heal before the next game. They’ll head out to Los Angeles for Week 9 on June 1st. First pull is scheduled for 7:30 PM P.T. at Jerry Chabola Stadium.
