The San Diego Seals (0-1) will play their home opener Saturday night as the Toronto Rock (0-1) come to San Diego for the first time in franchise history.
Last season, the Seals played in Toronto on Feb. 15 and dropped the one game between the two teams (11-12). After falling 5-8 early, the Seals battled back to bring the game within one, but failed to take the lead as Toronto held them off.
This year, the Seals dropped the season opener on Dec. 7 on the road to the Buffalo Bandits. Wes Berg, Jeremy Noble, Zach Greer and Kyle Buchanan each made multi-goal performances in the season opener. Goaltender Frank Scigliano saved 77.4% (41/58) shots against Buffalo.
A familiar face returns to San Diego as Dan Dawson comes with his new team, the Toronto Rock. Dawson was a fan-favorite to San Diego fans last season. He appeared in 18 games and led the 2019 team with 88 points.
The Rock fell to the newly-founded New England Black Wolves on Dec. 7 in their home opener. Johnny Powless and Tom Schreiber made three-point efforts in Toronto’s season-opening loss.
The Seals and Rock will begin at 7 p.m. PT from Pechanga Arena San Diego for San Diego’s home opener. Live television will be broadcast local on Fox 5 San Diego.
