Seals open 2021-22 season with Warriors in first NLL game since March 2020

After 636 days without professional lacrosse in San Diego, the Seals return to Pechanga Arena when the Vancouver Warriors come to town for the 2021-22 season opener.

In their last game on Mar. 7, 2020, the Seals blew out the Rochester Knighthawks, 19-6, in their Star Wars-themed night. Returning forward Casey Jackson scored five goals to lead the team’s franchise-high 19-goal performance.

Other notable players returning include forwards Wesley Berg, Zack Greer, Jeremy Noble, defensemen Cam Holding, Brodie Merrill, and goaltender Frank Scigliano.

Merrill has been named the Seals’ captain in his third year with San Diego.

The biggest name the Seals acquired in the past two years is former most valuable player Dane Dobbie, who played for the Calgary Roughnecks before joining San Diego more than a year ago. Dobbie was a 2007 entry draft selection by Calgary and spent all his 13 years with the Roughnecks. He scored 40 or more goals in his first four seasons and led the league with 115 total points to win the 2018-19 season’s MVP award.

The game begins at 7 p.m. PT at Pechanga Arena San Diego. The game will be available to watch locally on FOX 5 San Diego, or ESPN+ nationally.
