Pregame: Seals to clinch West division with a win over Desert Dogs - Everything San Diego

The San Diego Seals (12-4, 1st West) clinched their spot in the playoffs a few weeks ago and tonight will have the chance to clinch the West division crown for the second consecutive season with a win over the Las Vegas Desert Dogs (5-11, 6th West) Saturday night at Pechanga Arena San Diego.

Last season, the Seals finished the season with a 10-8 record, placing atop the West Division for the first time in franchise history. This season, they have already set the team record with 12 victories (12-4) and still have two games remaining, both at home.

The Seals have already clinched a home playoff game in the Western Conference with only the Calgary Roughnecks having the ability to pass them up in the standings. With the Seals winning the season series, 2-1, they need only one win to clinch the West’s best record.

The Seals have hosted at least one playoff game in every season that has had a playoff since they joined the NLL in the 2018-19 season.

MORE STORYLINES:
• The Seals clinched the season series when the two teams faced off in Las Vegas on April 8, winning 14-10. This will be the Desert Dogs’ first and only time this season at Pechanga Arena after the previous matchup between the two teams on March 4 was played at Snapdragon Stadium for the NLL’s first annual Stadium Showdown.

• Wesley Berg’s 36 goals this season is one shy of his single-season record of 37, set last season. He already surpassed his single-season record in assists (63) and points (99).

Curtis Dickson is four assists (49) shy of his single-season record of 53.

INJURY UPDATES:
• Casey Jackson and Cam Holding remain on the team’s injured reserve list. There are no timetables set for their returns.
