Within the past few games, the San Diego Seals have seen an incredible offensive explosion from Wesley Berg, Connor Fields, Casey Jackson, among others.
In their blowout win in Las Vegas over the Colorado Mammoth, the Seals saw a huge game from forward Casey Jackson, who just recently returned from an injury. Scoring a season-high five goals, Jackson led the team to a seven-goal victory while continuing to show no signs of any recent injury.
The Seals also saw the return of 2019 NLL Rookie of the Year, forward Austin Staats. Staats, 21, was the first overall pick in the 2018 expansion draft by the Seals. In the 2019 season, he led all rookies in points and goals, and was second for rookies in assists, though he missed the final four games due to an ACL injury.
Staats picked up his first three points of the 2020 season after assisting two goals and scoring one in the fourth quarter to add onto a 17-10 win.
Rookie and Seals’ forward Connor Fields earned Rookie of the Week honors after a six-point performance in Vegas.
The recent offensive explosion was no surprise for the players of San Diego as they won back-to-back games for the first time this season. They’ll look to advance and become better as the season continues for their ninth game of the year and fight for their second playoff spot in as many years.
