Gulls, Seals postpone games this week due to COVID-19

The San Diego Gulls and Seals postponed games Monday as COVID-19 continues its tear through North American sports leagues.

The Gulls’ Monday and Wednesday home games against the Ontario Reign and Henderson Silver Knights have been postponed. Their road games against the Tucson Roadrunners Friday, Dec. 31 and Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022, are also at risk as the San Diego hockey team deals with their outbreak.

The National Lacrosse League (NLL) postponed all games this upcoming weekend, including the Seals road game against the Saskatchewan Rush on Friday, Dec. 31. At this time, their Jan. 8 home game against the Panther City Lacrosse Club will be played as previously scheduled.

It was reported last week that head coach Brodie Merrill had tested positive for the coronavirus. There have been no reports at this time about any players testing positive or in protocols due to close contact.

As of now, the San Diego Sockers Sunday home match will still be played as scheduled when they play the Ontario Fury at 5:05 p.m. PT at Pechanga Arena San Diego in a 2021 Ron Newman Cup Finals rematch and Southern California rivalry night.
