- Seals acquire Poway alumnus White from Buffalo; trade Sykes to Las Vegas

The San Diego Seals acquired Poway alumnus Marquez White from the Buffalo Bandits in exchange for a pair of second-round draft picks before the league trade deadline on Tuesday.

The Seals also acquired defenseman James Barclay from the Las Vegas Desert Dogs in exchange for forward Justin Sykes and another 2026 second-round pick on Monday.

White graduated from Poway High School in 2020, played at the varsity level of boys’ lacrosse all four years and captained the team in 2019 and the COVID-shortened 2020 season. He won three consecutive league titles with Poway.

The Poway native spent the last three seasons at Princeton before he was selected by Buffalo in the third round (35th overall) of the 2024 NLL Draft. He hasn’t played a NLL game yet while he recovers from an ACL injury.

Buffalo acquired a 2026 second round pick and a 2028 conditional second-round pick for White.

Barclay is in his fifth season in the NLL and was in his second season with the Desert Dogs where he scored a goal and three assists in 13 games played this season.
