UC San Diego earned the No. 12 seed in the NCAA Tournament’s south region and will face the No. 5 Michigan Wolverines in the first round on Thursday, March 20.

It’s their first NCAA Tournament in their first season eligible for the tournament after their Division I transition period ended last summer. They beat UC Irvine, 75-61, in the Big West championship on March 15 to clinch their berth to the tournament.

They’ll play in the south region at Ball Arena in Denver.

If the Tritons won, they would face the winner of No. 4 Texas A&M and No. 13 Yale in the second round on Saturday, March 22.
