The Toreros are one win away from going to Indianapolis for the 2025 College Rugby Championship Weekend after their 68-22 win over the American River Beavers in the California Conference Championship Match.

The back-to-back defending D1AA champion USD dominated early and scored four tries in the opening half for a 34-5 lead. They scored five more tries in the second half for a 46-point win over the previously unbeaten American River College.

During the regular season, both teams went 6-0. USD averaged a winning margin of 44 points per match. American River averaged wins of 50.

USD was nearly perfect in the first half with taking the opportunities given to them and taking advantage of mistakes made by American River. By the 31st minute, the Toreros had a 27-0 lead.

American River scored three tries in the second half and scored 17 points in the second half as the Toreros unloaded their bench into the match.

For the Toreros, it was just business as usual as they look to do nothing but three-peat in the D1AA national championships.

Up next: The Toreros will visit Western Washington University in Bellingham, Wash. on Saturday, April 19 in the Western Region final. The winner of that match will play in the national semi-final in Indianapolis on Friday, May 2. The championship match will be on Sunday, May 4 in Indianapolis.
