The San Diego State Aztecs (5-1, 2-1 MW) travel to the home of the San Jose State Spartans (3-3, 1-2 MW) for Week 8 of college football.

San Diego State is coming into the game with a two-game win streak and an undefeated 3-0 record on the road. In the past decade, the Aztecs are one of the best teams when on the road.

Their defense has been historically good this season as they ranked fourth in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) with an average of 64 rushing yards allowed. They trail only Wisconsin (44.7), Utah (52.8) and Penn State (53.8).

On the other hand, their offensive game has not done all too well, scoring just 21.2 points per game (ranked 108th in FBS) and 324.5 total yards per game (ranked 116th).

The San Jose State Spartans have followed a pattern so far in the 2019 season, winning their first, third and fifth games while losing their second, fourth and sixth for an even 3-3 record. The Spartans placed fifth in the Mountain West’s West Division with a 1-2 conference record.

San Jose State has had an under-the-radar defense this season, making 13 interceptions and recovering five fumbles through the first six games of the year. The Spartans ranked 88th in points allowed per game (29.8) and have 461 total yards allowed per game.

On the offensive side, they ranked 66th in points per game and rank in the top 10 for passing yards per game (326). The Spartans ranked 63rd with 415.8 total yards per game.

Head-to-head between the Spartans and Aztecs have gone San Diego State’s way the past six meetings as the Aztecs currently lead the series 21-19. In the six-game win streak over San Jose State, the Aztecs have outscored the Spartans 212-67.
