The Mountain West Conference will officially return on Oct. 23 as college football makes its return to the fields.
“This is a great opportunity to get our student-athletes back on the field of competition in a cautious and regulated fashion,” Mountain West Commissioner Craig Thompson said.
This means for the San Diego State Aztecs football team that they will get one last season at SDCCU Stadium before its demolition in January. They will play in Carson, Calif. during the 2021 season while the new stadium is built for the 2022 season.
While the Mountain West has allowed fans to come at some capacity, it is up to each state whether to fans can actually watch from the stadium seats. At this point, the state of California has banned gatherings and SDSU will have to play in front of an empty SDCCU Stadium.
The schedule has yet to be released, but is expected in the coming weeks.
