Midfielder Onni Valakari scored San Diego FC’s first home goal in a 1-1 draw with the Eastern Conference’s Columbus Crew at Snapdragon Stadium.

Valakari scored the equalizer in the 69th minute. Valakari replaced striker Marcus Ingvartse to begin the second half.

Columbus scored early on a goal from forward Max Arfsten, his first of the season.

San Diego goalkeeper CJ Dos Santos made two saves after the Columbus score to secure San Diego a point.

SDFC had seven shots on target with 2.5 total expected goals, according to Opta. Valakari and striker Anders Dreyer each had two shots on target and accounted for the most expected goals.
