The San Diego Legion will move back to the University of San Diego's Torero Stadium, the Legion's home from 2018-2020, in order to maintain primarily Saturday night matches during the season.
The Legion played at Torero during their first three seasons before moving to San Diego State University's Sports Deck in 2022 then SDSU-owned Snapdragon Stadium the last two seasons since 2023.
“We're committed to creating the best experience for our fans in 2025 and we believe that Torero Stadium will offer the best venue for our fans and players in 2025," Legion CEO David Haigh said.
Snapdragon Stadium will host NWSL club San Diego Wave FC and MLS expansion side San Diego FC, whose inaugural home match is March 1, at the same time as the Legion’s February-through-June schedule in 2025.
The decision to move away from Snapdragon Stadium was solely on the Legion’s leadership team after hearing from fans that they preferred Saturday night matches over Sunday afternoon.
Both team and stadium officials left the door open for playoff games to be played at Snapdragon Stadium.
“Our top priority is to maintain an excellent environment for all our partners, and we will continue to collaborate closely with the Legion to ensure a seamless and successful transition,” Snapdragon Stadium General Manager Adam Millar said. “We look forward to hosting SD Legion in the future at Snapdragon Stadium for various marquee and international events, as we remain committed to fostering the growth of rugby in Southern California."
Their season begins on Sunday, Feb. 16 when they host defending Western Conference champion Seattle Seawolves at Torero Stadium.
