The San Diego Padres announced Friday afternoon “San Diego Super Sports Saturday” with the first time ever that the Padres and San Diego State Aztecs men’s basketball schedules intersect and both will play on the same day.
Petco Park will open the Home Plate and Park Boulevard gates at 2:30 p.m. to fans with tickets to their Saturday night game to watch the Aztecs take on Florida Atlantic Owls in the NCAA Men’s Final Four, which begins at 3:09 p.m. PT.

The Aztecs are in the Final Four for the first time in program history after taking down no. 12 Charleston (63-57) in the Round of 64, no. 13 Furman (75-52) in the Round of 32, no. 1 Alabama (71-64) in the Sweet 16, and no. 6 Creighton in the Elite Eight. Before this season, they had only made it as far as the Sweet 16 in 2011 and 2014.
The Final Four and National Championship (which will be played on Monday, April 3) are hosted in Houston, Texas. The other three teams in the Final Four are no. 9 Florida Atlantic, no. 4 UConn, and no. 5 Miami. All three remaining NCAA Tournament will be televised on CBS with the National Championship game at 6:20 p.m. PT.
The Padres host the Colorado Rockies on Saturday, April 1, for the third game of a four-game set on Opening Weekend. They dropped the season opener on March 30 by a score of 7-2 to the Rockies.
