After a long and tiring few months with the MLB Players Association and MLB owners not agreeing on a season, Major League Baseball will play a 60-game regular-season schedule.
Spring Training 2.0 will begin July 1 with Opening Day on July 23 or 24. The season will end Sept. 27. The schedule will feature 40 games against divisional teams and 20 against the National/American League counterparts (i.e. NL West plays AL West, etc.).
To begin the season, there will be a 30-man roster, 28-man two weeks after season starts, and 26-man rosters a month into the season.
The agreement also features changes including a universal DH, and a runner starting on second base each half inning during extra innings.
There will also be a 60-man “player pool” during the course of the regular-season with the 40-man roster and 20 “taxi squad” players, in the case that a player would contract the coronavirus.
Additional changes include the trade deadline moved to Aug. 31, instead of July 31.
The new league schedule is yet to be released.
