The San Diego Padres have reportedly agreed to a deal that would send outfielder Manuel Margot and non-top 30 prospect catcher/outfielder Logan Driscoll to the Tampa Bay Rays for reliever Emilio Pagán.

In three big league seasons, Pagán has a 9-6 record in 182⅓ innings with the Seattle Mariners, Oakland Athletics and Tampa Bay Rays.

Last season with the Rays, the 28-year-old reliever recorded a 2.31 earned run average over 66 games, saving 20 games for Tampa Bay.

Margot, 25, hit .248 with a .695 OPS in 428 games over the past four seasons. He made his big league debut in 2016 and made his biggest impact in 2017 in his rookie season when he batted .263/.313/.409 over 126 games.

Driscoll, 22, has played in 39 professional games since being drafted in the second round of the 2019 MLB Draft by the Padres. He hit .268/.340/.458 and hit three homeruns.

The trade makes the Padres’ already-deep bullpen even stronger and arguably the best bullpen in baseball, which will play a strong role deep into the season if they are still in contention for their first playoff season in 14 years.
