Padres outfielders Jurickson Profar and Fernando Tatis Jr. were named to the MLB All-Star Game on Wednesday.
It’ll mark Profar’s first all-star game appearance in 11 MLB seasons, and he’ll make it where his MLB career started in Arlington, Texas, at the Texas Rangers’ Globe Life Field.
Entering play Wednesday, Profar hit .311/.404/.472 while playing in all 87 games for the Padres. He hit 11 home runs and recorded a team-leading 55 runs batted in.
It’ll be Tatis’ second all-star game although he likely will not play due to a right femoral stress reaction suffered early in the season.
Christian Yelich (Brewers) is the other National League outfielder named as a All-Star Game starter.
In the second phase of All-Star Game voting, Luis Arraez lost the second base race to the D-Backs’ Ketel Marte and Manny Machado lost the third base race to the Phillies’ Alec Bohm.
The 2024 MLB All-Star Game will take place on Tuesday, July 16 at 5 p.m. PT (7 p.m. CT) at Globe Life Field.
