Profar, Tatis in position to start All-Star Game after first day of phase 2 voting - Everything San Diego

Voting for the second phase of All-Star Game opened on Sunday and the polls are out for the first day of voting with outfielders Jurickson Profar and Fernando Tatis Jr. to start the summer classic.

Profar and Tatis received 20% and 16% of votes, trailing only the Brewers’ Christian Yelich (21%). The Phillies’ Brandon Marsh (15%), Nick Castellanos (14%) and Dodgers’ Teoscar Hernandez (14%) are right behind Tatis in voting.

Tatis would miss the All-Star Game because of his right femoral stress reaction but receiving the starting honors would put the accolades on his record.

Third baseman Manny Machado trailed the Phillies’ Alec Bohm 70% to 30%.

Luis Arraez trailed the Diamondbacks’ Ketel Marte 55% to 45% through the first day of voting at second base.

Fans can vote once per day per device at MLB.com/vote through Wednesday, July 3 at 9 a.m. PT.
