Sockers survive Milwaukee in shootouts

The San Diego Sockers advanced to 14-6 on the season with a 6-5 shootout win over the Milwaukee Wave at Pechanga Arena San Diego.

Kraig Chiles, the game-winning scorer in the fourth round of shootouts, scored a combined three goals, including a pair in shootouts for the win.

Leonardo De Oliveira led the offense in regulation with a two-goal night, his fourth multi-goal and sixth multi-point performance of the season.

Guerrero Pino also recorded a multi-point night with a pair of assists in the third quarter. Pino has five assists and six points this season.

Mid-way through the fourth quarter, Milwaukee tied the ballgame at five apiece. The fourth quarter would remain scoreless as the Sockers went to overtime for just the second time this season, where they later went into shootouts for the first time this year. San Diego is 1-1 when going past regulation.

With their 14th victory of the season, the Sockers could clinch a playoff spot before their next match with a Tacoma Stars loss Mar. 1 or 7.

The Sockers will return to the arena Mar. 8 to face the fifth-place Tacoma Stars at Pechanga Arena San Diego.
