With their eighth consecutive victory, the Sockers advance to 8-1 on the season. The San Diego Sockers defeated the Mesquite Outlaws, 5-3, at Pechanga Arena San Diego.
The Sockers jumped to an early 3-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, with goals from midfielder Hiram Ruiz and forwards Leonardo de Oliveira and Kraig Chiles.
Defenseman Cesar Cerda recorded the final two goals in the second and fourth quarters. Cerda has five multi-point outings in nine games this season.
San Diego began the game Diego Angel Arriaga, who saved all five shots on goal in the first half. To begin the second half, the Sockers sent Boris Pardo to the goal where he saved eight of 11 Mesquite shots.
The Sockers return to the road Jan. 24 against the Harrisburg Heat at the PA Farm Show Arena in Pennsylvania. Kickoff is set for 4:35 p.m. PT.
