The last time Chihuahua Savage visited Pechanga Arena, the San Diego Sockers came back from a Game 1 loss in the Western Conference Final to win 6-2 in Game 2 and 4-1 in the 15-minute winner-take-all mini-game to advance to their second consecutive MASL Final.
Now, the undefeated Sockers (8-0) face their toughest competition yet against the second-place Savage (7-0-1), who have given San Diego a lot of tough games in the past.
Last season, the Sockers went 4-0 in the regular season against Chihuahua, but two of those finished with a one-goal difference.
The Jan. 29 match between the two teams will be the first of just two games, and the only match at Pechanga Arena this season.
The Sockers return from a two-game road trip in Harrisburg, Pa., where they swept a weekend double-header over the Harrisburg Heat, 5-3 and 11-3.
With the second win of their two weekend games, the Sockers set a new MASL regular-season record of 28 straight wins, beginning Jan. 16, 2022, in the 2021-22 season.
San Diego and Chihuahua will begin at 5:05 p.m. from Pechanga Arena San Diego in a battle for MASL’s Western Conference.
