In their first east coast trip of the season, the San Diego Sockers started off with a 9-6 win over the Baltimore Blast.
Felipe Gonzalez opened the scoring in the first three minutes of the first quarter and scored his second goal in game-tying fashion in the third quarter.
San Diego had six different players record two-point outings, with eight different goal scorers.
Forward Tavoy Morgan scored a go-ahead goal in the first quarter and assisted Gonzalez’s game-tying score in the third quarter. Morgan has nine goals in the team’s last four matches.
Captain forward Kraig Chiles assisted and scored goals in the third quarter as part of four straight goals scored by the Sockers in the third and fourth quarters.
The Sockers won their 14th straight game and, with their 48th point, are only one win away from clinching the MASL Western Division title.
They will get that chance when they travel north to New York to play Utica City FC at 11 a.m. PT Sunday, Mar. 13.
