The San Diego Growlers of the American Ultimate Disc League (AUDL) earned last week’s Everything San Diego Team of the Week after their 24-17 rout of the Los Angeles Aviators (#BeatLA) to clinch their third consecutive playoff berth.

They got off to a fast start, scoring four of the game’s first six goals, and finishing with a season-best seven-goal win.

With some help from Nate Pettyjohn (seven goals, seven plus/minus), Khalif El-Salaam (three blocks), and Tim Okita (34 completions), the San Diego offense exploded for a season-high 24 goals while producing points in a season-best 88% of their possessions.

There are two weeks remaining as the Growlers need just one win to clinch back-to-back West Division titles against the Aviators (4-6) on the road and a home game against the San Jose Spiders (3-6).

Their final home match this season, Friday, Aug. 20, will come against the fifth-place Spiders at Mission Bay High School with an opening pull at 7 p.m. PT.
