The San Diego Gulls lost to the Ontario Reign on Pink in the Rink Night; however, they did pick up a point in the overtime loss.

Blake Pietila scored two goals. It was his first multi-goal game of the season. Daniel Sprong scored a goal and two assists for a season-high three-point effort.

"We've been on a pretty good stretch, we've been playing well as of late,” Pietila said after the game.

The Gulls got off to a hot start, holding onto a two-goal lead after the first 20 minutes.

Ontario’s Mikey Eyssimont scored on a power play goal at 7:05 in the middle frame for the Reign, to cut the Gulls lead in half.

San Diego retook the two-goal lead when Pietila scored his second goal of the night at 8:46 in the second period. "I was on the receiving end of two nice passes and I was just hanging around the net,” Pietila added.

However, with only 21 seconds left in regulation, the Reign tied the game after the goaltender pulled out for an extra attacker as Carl Grundstrom's shot found the back of the net.

San Diego goalie Kevin Boyle made 30 saves during regulation, but could block the first shot in overtime.

On their first shot of the five-minute overtime period, the Reign’s Jaret Anderson-Dolan found the net to steal a point from the Gulls.

The Gulls will look to get back on track Feb. 5 when they play the San Jose Barracuda from the SAP Center.
