Down by one with 10 minutes remaining in regulation? No problem. Center Sam Carrick and right wing Troy Terry pushed the San Diego Gulls into the lead in just two minutes and goaltender Anthony Stolarz did his part as San Diego extended their winning streak to a season-high five games over the Bakersfield Condors.
In his first five games since being reassigned to San Diego, Terry has not finished a game without recording at least one point, and totalled a season-high three points Saturday night against Bakersfield.
The Gulls struck first when Brendan Guhle scored his third goal of the season. Guhle also had an assist when he last played in Bakersfield Nov. 8.
Bakersfield’s center Markus Granlund was a part of each Condors goal. He assisted the first score while scoring each of the second and third team goals.
The Gulls will return to home ice Jan. 21 to face the first-place Tucson Roadrunners for Round 2. Puck drop will take place at 7 p.m. from Pechanga Arena San Diego.
