The Gulls and Barracuda played Wednesday night in a hard-fought matchup. However, San Jose came out on top in overtime.

Anthony Stolarz, a six-year AHL veteran goaltender, played in his 127th career game in the league, and he did so with one of his best, if not the best, performance of his professional career.

Making his Anaheim Ducks’ organization debut at the beginning of the season, Stolarz has quickly become a fan-favorite, and he solidified that Wednesday night with a 38-for-41 performance against the California rival, San Jose Barracuda.

The Gulls struck first with under three minutes to go in the first period when defenseman Chris Wideman scored his eighth goal of the season.

The Gulls re-took the lead in the second period after center Alex Dostie put one into the net for a 2-1 lead.

However, with under four minutes left of regulation, the Barracuda scored their second goal of the night and tied the game, setting it up for bonus hockey.

In overtime, the Gulls seemingly hit the puck into the net to win the game, yet, the officials ruled it hit the post as it quickly went out of the net.

Within 15 seconds, the Barracuda scored on a distracted San Diego defense to win the game.

The Gulls will face their SoCal rival Friday night in the Ontario Reign at 7 p.m. from Toyota Arena.
