The San Diego Gulls (6-7) will look to even the season series versus the Ontario Reign (8-5-2) Saturday night for San Diego’s Star Wars Night theme between the two SoCal rivals.
The previous night, the Gulls defeated the Reign by a score of 6-2 as San Diego has now scored 15 goals in the past three days. The Reign will try to spoil the Gulls’ home game tonight as San Diego did in Ontario last night.
Since starting out 0-6, San Diego has gone 6-1 while averaging five goals per game and outscoring opponents 36-21.
27-year-old center Sam Carrick has been as good as anyone in the AHL in the past two weeks as he has eight points in the past five games, in which he now has a five-game point streak.
Defenseman Chris Wideman has played the best week of his career with seven points since Monday and back-to-back three-point games. In Ontario Friday night, the five-year AHL veteran scored his first multi-goal game since Feb. 17.
The Reign started out 6-1-1, but since the calendar flipped to November, they are just 2-4-1. Ontario has scored just 12 goals in seven games this month.
The game will be streamed with AHL TV and broadcasted live on the Gulls Radio Network with puck drop at 7 p.m. from Pechanga Arena San Diego.
