Nonu suffers fractured toe, expected to return in LA
San Diego Legion back and captain Ma’a Nonu suffered a fractured toe two weeks ago. He missed Round 5’s match with Old Glory DC and is not active for this week’s match at Rugby United New York, but the expectation is that he returns for Round 7’s match at the LA Giltinis.
Nonu has yet to score his first try of the season, but was a vital part of the San Diego defense and attacking, providing protection for his teammates multiple times.
Augspurger gets rest against RUNY
Vice captain Nate Augspurger will sit on reserve to get rest, and is likely to enter early in the second half, much like Nonu’s role in the Round 1 match with the Utah Warriors where he entered the match at the 60th minute.
Augspurger has played every minute so far this season.
Tameilau named captain in New York
San Diego forward Tevita Tameilau was named the captain for the Sunday afternoon match at Rugby United New York. He will become the third captain for the Legion this season.
