- Hart throws six shutout innings as Padres shutout Rockies again 2-0

For the second time this season, Padres pitching threw shutouts in back-to-back games in a 2-0 win over the Colorado Rockies.

Kyle Hart threw six innings allowing just one hit in his third start in a Padres uniform and earned his second win.

His outing comes a day after Nick Pivetta threw seven shutout innings against the Rockies on Friday in a 8-0 Padres win.

The Padres pitching staff’s combined 2.86 ERA after the game on Saturday is second in the majors behind just the New York Mets (2.47). Their five shutouts lead the league. (There’s nobody else with more than two besides the Milwaukee Brewers).

Jeremiah Estrada, Jason Adam and Robert Suarez each pitched scoreless innings to complete the shutout. Suarez recorded his seventh save of the season.

Fernando Tatis Jr. led off the game with his team-leading fourth home run of the season. Jason Heyward hit his first home run as a Padre in the fifth inning to double the San Diego lead.

Up next: The Padres will go for the sweep of the Rockies and try to make it 10 consecutive wins to begin the home schedule with Michael King (2-0, 4.05 ERA) on the bump against Colorado southpaw Kyle Freeland (0-2, 3.79 ERA). First pitch is set for 1:10 p.m. at Petco Park.
