The San Diego Mojo capped their 3-1 win over the first-place and defending PVF champion Omaha Supernovas with a convincing 25-13 set-4 victory to remain in the playoff race for at least a little bit longer.
However, their 8-14 record makes it incredibly hard and unlikely to get there, even if they were to win out.
If the Mojo (8-14, 6th PVF) were to win out, the Orlando Valkyries (13-10, 3rd PVF) could only win one more match out of five total remaining. The Indy Ignite (12-10, 4th PVF) would need to lose at least four of their six remaining matches.
Any loss by the Mojo would decrease the number of wins the other teams would need.
Incredibly unlikely.
However, the Mojo defied all odds last year after a terrible start to make the playoffs and win the first two sets in last year’s semifinal match in what would become a five-set loss to the eventual inaugural PVF champion Supernovas.
The regular season ends on Saturday, May 3 for the Mojo against the currently-fourth-place Ignite. The semifinal will be played on Friday, May 9.
