Braxton Key scored a go-ahead basket with 6.6 seconds remaining in the game but the Capital City Go-Go drew back ahead with the game-winning score with three seconds left in the San Diego Clippers’ 110-109 loss on Thursday.
The Clippers finished their two-game cross-country road trip with a win and a loss in Oklahoma City, Okla. and the nation’s capital. They fell to a 5-4 record during the regular season, just outside the playoff picture in the Western Conference.
Center Trentyn Flowers led San Diego with 28 points. He made 9 of 20 shots from the floor and went 6-for-7 on free throws.
Garrett Denbow led the Clippers in three’s from the bench with three made-3’s and 10 points.
Capital City guard Jaylen Nowell made 12 of 22 shots for a game-leading 31 points, including the game-winning layup with three seconds remaining.
The Clippers led 57-56 at halftime despite trailing 39-25 at the end of the first quarter.
San Diego held an eight-point lead at the end of the third quarter but the Go-Go went on a 18-9 run in the game’s final five minutes to narrowly beat the Clippers.
